Nagalapuram

The scared temple dedicated to Lord Veda Narayana Swamy is situated here. Nagalapuram is about 65 kms , south east of Tirupati. However its centre ofattraction is the temple Sri Vedanarayana swamyTemple which is fine specimen of the Vijayanagara style. The sanctum sanctorum houses an image of the matsyavataram form of Vishnu accompanied by Sri Devi  Bhudevi on either side.
Sun worship is an important aspect of this temple. Every year in the month of March the rays of the Sun pass through the Gopuram entrance for 3 days and fall on the idol in the sanctum and this is considered as an act of adoaration by the Sun. The temple is said to have been constructedby Sri Krishna DevaRaya , the vijayanagara emperor at the behest of his mother.
